Riyaz Bhyat a close family friend and boxing coach has taken over the management of the Booysens Boxing Club where Unleashed was born, and is currently working with promoter Shereen Hunter to continue the Unleashed success story through his support personally and making available the Booysens Boxing Club (now called the Box Camp). This venue was renovated in 2021 and is now positioned to stage world-class boxing events in Johannesburg.
Over the last 5 years Unleashed Combat Sports and Events has built a strong combat sport brand and good reputation amongst boxing stakeholders and sports media in South Africa. They boast a successful track record of boxing event excellence and growing mainstream publicity.Through Unleashed Combat Sport contracted boxers, both a South African Champion and Provincial Boxing Champions have been produced.
Unleashed Combat Sport and Events made history in South Africa by developing and licensing the first female boxing coach in South African history (Tamayn Raynor) and in 2019 their resident Boxing Manager was awarded Boxing Manager of the Year through Boxing South Africa (Colleen McAusland).
In 2017 Shereen Hunter was awarded the Most Promising Boxing Promoter of the Year at the Annual South African Boxing Awards held in the Eastern Cape. Within her first year as a boxing promoter she hosted 4 professional boxing tournaments.
In 2019 Unleashed Combat Sport led by Shereen Hunter was invited by Boxing South Africa to the World Boxing Council (WBC) Conference held in Cancun, Mexico. This presented a great opportunity for her to meet a global network of boxing professional and get connected at an international level.
As a professional sports promoter Shereen Hunter has been elected over 3 consecutive terms as Secretary General of the Gauteng Boxing Promoters Association. All her work as Secretary General through this Association is pro bono, and forms part of her personal commitment to both the boxing fraternity and to the Hunter family to continue to build the sport of Professional Boxing in South Africa.
